The Mission of the Disability Rights Legal Center (DRLC) is to promote the rights of people with disabilities and the public interest in and awareness of those rights by providing legal and related services.
Disability Rights California
The mission of this private/non-profit legal organization is to advance the rights of Californians with disabilities. Some of the services they provide are:
- Telling people with disabilities about their many legal, civil, and service rights,
- Provide technical assistance, training, publications, and advocacy support for Californians with disabilities, their families, and representatives,
- Advocate to make sure that laws benefit Californians with disabilities,
- Investigate complaints about serious physical or sexual abuse and neglect-related deaths in institutions,
- Outreach to traditionally underserved ethnic and disability communities,
- Provide peer self-advocacy services for people with psychiatric or developmental disabilities,
- Provide patients’ rights advocacy for state psychiatric hospital residents, and technical assistance and training for county advocates,
- Provide rights advocacy for clients with developmental disabilities who are receiving services at regional centers,
- Bring impact litigation and act as amicus curiae in disability- related cases, and
- Represent individuals based on our priorities and case selection criteria.
The Office of Clients’ Rights Advocacy is part of Disability Rights California, providing advocacy services to regional center consumers, their families and interested community members. OCRA can hel with legal problems, conduct trainings and investigate denials of rights.

This exciting program incorporates use of theatre arts, music and movement to engage participants in developing social skills and social awareness. Participants gain confidence, social skills and the ability to express themselves creatively in a supportive and dynamic environment. Directed by Caroline Paltin Ph.D, a licensed psychologist.
Early Detection of Autism: An Online Training Program
This study examines the effectiveness of an online training program for mothers and child care providers aimed at improving knowledge and recognition of typical 6-month old infant behavior and the early signs of autism. Both at-risk and non-risk families are included.
